ALL IS WELL he says

i'm back where the weather is nicer, where the bed must be tended to and where i'll have only three months left. it's nice to be here. i know i don't often sound enamoured of HK but.. it's just the brat talking.

quite relieved that cello is still here. heaven knows i have been fretting secretly over the past week, anticipating the nightmare of an empty room reeking of rotten cacti.

also means i am away.. oh well. wish doggies could talk!

NYT leisure pages. fashion, dining, home & gardening, wedding announcements. the Modern Love column above all, of course! almost always good for tight shorts that feel like they're plucked out of longer stories. most of the time when i'm done the first question that springs to mind is, Is this for real?!.. as a followup to an invisible shudder that wonders who'd publish this sort of truth, i guess. have even developed a bit of a routine - halfway through i'd often feel compelled to check the author's little writeup at the end, first. won't go as far as to say this adds depth or engagement to the rest of the story, it's just always something i feel like i need to do. i've only gone further to Google these folks a couple of times though, because it's nice not knowing any more (whether the stories could be real, or not). mildly romantic, if you will, since it's not particularly important to unturn every damn stone.

this week's article. look it up! The usual question/shudder apply. if you've seen Closer, you might enjoy it.. or not. keep away if you're feeling funky, it's not going to dispel any blues. i was curious enough look Andy Christie up though, the morning after too. The Liar Show's got raving reviews. "4 storytellers, 3 truths, 1 pack of lies", hmm. What are the chances now?

feels like february's finally giving the year a welcome shakeup, vg. have a number of small projects to mull over - even better!! at least now it doesn't seem like the days are wasted on me.

dropped out of the snaking line at the university bookstore today figuring that it'd be a wiser use of time to browse. i have truman capote's first novel now! found and published only quite recently. the dude died in between this pair of birthdays.. Aug 1984 is the date. also got my first play, since sec1 lit hardly counts. both are slightly salacious, tsk. perhaps i ought to have stayed put in the queue?

lessons this semester are actually engaging. then again, i say that almost every semester until the exams roll around and headsmashing becomes blood(il)y attractive. coolly sat in for an undergrad year2 class on the Chinese Legal System today - felt good to be taught, better to be learning, and v grown up for wanting to cluck at kiddos who really ought to waste their time in more unconstructive ways than sniggering at bright and only slowly-coherent profs! the dude's improved tons since the last semester.. but what do those children know.
